See the News and information Page about the current situation at Fairlight Cove.


First I must tell you that apart from Eastney Beach there are NO Official Beaches in Southern Region. Therefore the other beaches listed below are NOT covered by BN Insurance and you use them at your own risk.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE NOT VISITED THESE BEACHES AND THEREFORE NOT CHECKED THE BEACHES OR MAP REFERENCES GIVEN. The following information has been given to me by Members in the Region and I am passing it on in good faith. If you have any corrections, updates or information about other beaches please let me know - see below.


Beaches

  1. Location
    Eastney Beach, Portsmouth, Hants OS Map Ref: SZ680989 *

    Access
    From the Free Car Park adjacent to the Caravan Site. Walk down the path to the beach and turn left. Once beyond the signs clothing is not required.

    N.B.It has been brought to my attention that one of the signs indicating the Naturist Beach is immediately adjacent to the end of the footpath.
    In order to avoid offending others Please do not undress within 50 metres of the footpath.

    Parking
    Park in the Free Car Park adjacent to the Caravan Site.

    Facilities nearby
    There are toilets and other facilities in the textile caravan site but it is unlikely that these are available to those who are not camping at the site.

    Warnings
    Nothing known, but you should seek local advice regarding the tides and currents in the vicinity of the beach.

Mainland South Coast

I understand that the following beaches on the Mainland South Coast are being used for Naturist Sunbathing and Swimming.

  1. Gosport, Hants

  3. The Solent

    2. Park Shore OS Map Ref: SU408965 *
  4. Church Norton, SE Pagham Harbour
  5. Hayling Island
    1. Hayling Island OS Map Ref: SZ691990 *
  6. Christchurch, Dorset
    1. Hengistbury Head OS Map Ref: SZ172906 *


    Warnings for all of the above beaches
    You should make yourself aware of the tides or you may get trapped on the beach and also any currents in the sea that may make swimming dangerous. Also as these beaches are not official you should use discretion when undressing and ensure that you are not in a position to offend others - always have a towel or clothing handy so that you can cover up quickly if a stranger approaches.

    Isle of Wight

    On the Isle of Wight again there are NO Official Beaches and therefore the beaches listed below are NOT covered by BN Insurance and you use them at your own risk.

    1. Between Red Cliff and Whitecliff Ledge near Culver Cliff.
    2. Blackgang Chine - best approached from Knowles Farm.
    3. Between Shepherd's Chine and Atherfield Point.
    4. Other beaches may be useable with discretion.

    Access and Warnings for all of the above beaches

    Access to any of the above may involve cliff paths (some of which may be in disrepair) or even some scrambling so you should exercise care and wear suitable footwear. Also as these beaches are not official you should use discretion when undressing and ensure that you are not in a position to offend others - always have a towel or clothing handy so that you can cover up quickly if a stranger approaches.
